Frozen Remnants of Time

Frozen Remnants of Time
Along the black sands of Diamond Beach in Iceland, icebergs drift from the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon into the sea before being carried back onto the shore by the waves. Calved from the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier — an outlet of the vast Vatnajökull ice cap — these fragments of ancient ice are shaped by wind, tide, and shifting light. They reveal endless layers of bubbles and channels, traces of movement preserved in frozen form.
I was drawn to the myriad of details and subtle variations within each iceberg — from smooth, glass-like transparency to coarser inclusions and dark sediments trapped inside. The shifting color of the ice, depending on the weather, ranges from deep blue to translucent white. Captured in their final moments before melting into the sea, these images explore the fragile intersection of water, time, and light.
